Academic education

1995: Degree in Anglogerman Philology from the University of Barcelona.

Before, during and after my studies of philology I also pursued other studies where I had the chance to attend lectures related to mathematics, specialist translation and conference interpreting: Telecommunications engineering at the Polytechnical University of Catalonia, Mathematics at the University of Barcelona and translation and interpreting seminars at the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

1995: Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the Institute of Education Sciences of the University of Barcelona.

1995-1997: PhD Courses from the Department of Linguistics of the University of Barcelona. In 1997 I obtained the Certificate of Research Proficiency.

2000-2002: Several core and elective courses from the second degree cycle in CAT-tools, specialist translation and conference interpreting at the faculty of Translation and Interpreting from the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

From January to December 2001 I attended advanced studies in Conference Interpreting at the University of Vic, obtaining my Postgraduate Degree in Conference Interpreting.

Professional qualifications as a sworn translator & interpreter

Appointed by the Department of Justice of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia after having passed the official exams to become a sworn translator & interpreter:
2004: Catalan<>Spanish sworn translator.
2005: Catalan<>Spanish sworn interpreter.
2005: Catalan<>German sworn translator.
2005: Catalan<>German sworn interpreter.

2007: Sworn translator & interpreter for the courts and notaries of Saarland for Catalan and Spanish (combined with German). Sworn-in at the Regional Court of Saarbrücken. This appointment allows me to offer sworn translations valid for all institutions in the Federal Republic of Germany.

2008: Sworn translator & interpreter for the courts and notaries of Saarland for English (combined with German). This second appointment has also allowed me to offer sworn translations from Catalan and Spanish into English to be presented in consulates.

Official language certificates

Between 1986 and 1996 I obtained several language certificates such as the: ZOP from Goethe Institut, both Kleines and Großes Sprachdiplom (levels C2 and C2+, respectively) from the Goethe Institut and the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, as well as the English Certificate of Proficiency (English C2) from the University of Cambridge, some levels in English, French, German and Russian from the Official School of Languages in Barcelona, the former Certificat D in Catalan, issued by the former Junta Permanent de Català of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia (Generalitat de Catalunya), and various optional subjects as a part of my studies in philology (French and English linguistics, eight semesters of Russian and two semesters of Arabic as an ancient language).

In April 2009 I obtained the Luxembourgish certificate: Lëtzebuergesch als Friemsprooch.

In June 2009 I obtained the B1-level in Luxembourgish with the Éischten Diplom Lëtzebuergesch als Friemsprooch.

August 2011 was the time for obtaining my French diploma DELF B2 Diplôme élémentaire de langue française, niveau B2.

In March 2012 I passed the advanced level in French as a foreign language with the DALF C1 Diplôme approfondi de langue française, niveau C1.

June 2013: I obtained the highest language certificate in French, i.e., the DALF C2 Diplôme approfondi de langue française, niveau C2. Chosen field: Science.

Professional backround

Over 20 years' experience as a professional translator and interpreter, mainly as a sworn translator of German. In the past, I have also worked in other fields of expertise as a language trainer (German, English, Spanish & Catalan), as a lecturer in specialist translation at the University of Saarbrucken and at the University of Saarland (within the Program Qualificació Complementària en Llengua i cultura catalanes) and as an educational social worker within the European Project MobiPro EU.
